South of Sharm el Sheikh the coast is completely deserted, without shelter for more than a mile, until the small bay called MARSA GHOZLANI, where RAS MOHAMMED NATIONAL PARK begins. This is followed by another bay, MARSA BAREIKA, which is a lot
bigger and deeper.
It penetrates 2.8 miles into the country, forming the RAS MOHAMMED peninsula, which extends nearly 5 miles southeast into the Red Sea, separating the Gulf of Aqaba from the Gulf of Suez. Due to its geographical location, the Ras Mohammed Peninsula is a privileged area that benefits from strong currents that transport large quantities of plankton and other foods, leading to exceptional growth of hard and soft corals and attracting large schools of reef and pelagic marine fauna . With the great abundance of food, barracuda, mackerel, tuna and sharks swarm these waters, especially between June and August, offering divers the opportunity to make extremely interesting and exciting dives
